Introduction Human resources management is the process of managing the employees through a structured manner. It focuses on maximizing the employee performance in an organization by using various strategies. Human resources main objective is to acquire, develop and retain top talents, hence increasing the productivity of the organization and keeping its competitive advantage. It is a complete approach to manage people and the workplace culture and environment. Human resources management has different functions such as (Lawler & Boudreau, 2009): - Human resource planning: A continuous process of evaluating internal and external environmental influences, objectives and culture of the organization to ensure the best fit between the job and the employees. - Recruitment and selection: As employees re the most important asset for any organization, this is a critical step for the organization’s success. - Reward management: The purpose is to value the employee’ contribution at work and increase their motivation. It comes in different packages such as bonus, travel allowances, and increments. - Payroll administration: Determining the salary, benefits, tax deductions and leaves linked to employees. - Performance management: Methodical appraisal of the performance of the employees by appreciating the abilities for further development. - Training: The process of growing the skills and knowledge of the employees in order to achieve their jobs successfully and benefit the company.
