Valeria Sandoval Art 4 14 February 2017 Impressionism Impressionism is an art movement that originated during the 1800’s in France. It stated when a number of artist entered an art gallery but got rejected for the style of painting they had. The critics called their work unfinished and an impression on something trying to be painted which is where the term impression from impressionism came from. They style was very messy and captured the light. Artist during this art movement focused more on landscapes because the point was to paint a glimpse of the real thing and the sun would change throughout the day. The artist used short brush with a light hand,strokes and oil paints on their canvas. They usually used plat brushed to switch back and forth between strokes. Artist during this time period includes Claude Monet , Camille Pissaro, and Edgar Degas. I was inspired to do this art movement ever since I did my presentation on Impressionism.
