Week 2: Race and Diversity Alex Weissman, Eze Ekeogu, Rahul Venkatesh Race There are two major types of discrimination that occur within an organization Overt discrimination – blatantly obvious disrespect based on stereotypes Structural Discrimination – example from lecture was Isaiah Thomas and the Knicks - thousands of federal, state, and local complaints African American men and women each have significantly lower average incomes than Caucasian Men - African American men make 79% of the income of Caucasian Men - African American women make 60% the income of Caucasian Men This goes for Latino Americans as well, with Latino American men making 81% of the income of White men and Latino American women making 65% the income of white men. Asian Americans fall into a similar category in that although they make similar amounts of money to Caucasian men, it takes them more educational training and more work hours to reach that point. In general, however, they have a more complete education then whites, but have a lower salary and less promotions.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
