It is the responsibility of all staff members to ensure the safety and
cleanliness of the dental practice, both for themselves and the patients
who attend. Therefore, it is important as dental assistants to understand
infection control guidelines and procedures, as well as proper instrument
maintenance, as part of maintaining these standards is being able to
effectively prevent infection.
2. Brief
For this assessment, you will be demonstrating your knowledge in
the reprocessing and maintenance of instruments. You will also
meet the patient Shirley, and will need to consider the appropriate
infection control guidelines and procedures to be able to manage
and prevent any infection and cross-contamination.
The questions in this assessment are based on a case scenario
you are likely to come across in a dental practice. Some of the
