Montserrat Martinez9/30/19PSCI 2306 105Chapter 6, Boards and Commissions. The Texas bureaucracy is a system of wisely elected officials working with many other boards and agencies. Some of the most important state agencies include the Texas Department of Transportation(TxDOT) , the Department of State Health Services(DSHS), and the State Board of Education (SBOE).The TxDOT, governed by a commission which in this case is the Texas Transportation commission, is responsible to stay informed about the construction and maintenance of state highways and roads, federal interstate highways and roadways in the border of Texas. It plans and creates policies for the location, construction and maintenance of roads. Therefore, they make sure that the roads are safe to travel in, and that they are well designed. They are also in charge of creating new bridges for transportation, and new routes for traffic. On the other hand, the DSHS is a nine-person council selected by the governor, with over 12,000 employees providing broad guidance and direction for the department.
