APPLE SWOT 2 Apple Inc. Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) Apple continues to reign as the world’s most favored and dominant mogul in the technology industry. Apple has fashioned an exceedingly reputable brand selling to high-end customers. Apple was founded by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak on April 1, 1976 in Cupertino, California. Today, Apple chief executive officer (CEO), Tim Cook continues to carry the winning torch. Apple Apple’s main competitors consistently are Samsung Electronics Co, Amazon.com, International Business Machines (IBM) Corporation, Google Inc., Microsoft Corporation, Dell Inc., LG Electronics, Hewlett-Packard Company, Sony Corporation and many other computer hardware, computer software, consumer electronics and Internet companies. Apple serves computer hardware, computer software, consumer products, and digital distribution. The analysis below describes the key strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) that has the greatest effects on Apple Inc. This analysis is a decision-making tool used for strategic planning and considers the external environment and internal business conditions. STRENGTHS Brand Equity . Apple has the most easily recognizable logo, which highlights the strong brand image. Steve Jobs created the logo with simplicity in mind. Today the elegant brand is worth over 118.9 billion dollars. Innovation. Apple have attained success through rapid innovation of high-end products released systematically. Innovation is the key to a company’s sustained competitive advantage (Malone, 2009). Research and Development (R&D). Apple’s recent announcement of a $45 million-dollar research and development center in Beijing and continued openings of Apple stores in international locations such as India show commitment to the expansion process. (Kharpal, 2016).
