2 Organizational Analysis of the Nurse Leader Summary: I will be discussing my current nurse leader and his role at Avicenna Ambulatory outpatient Surgery Center. His leadership style, responsibilities, and types of communication utilized in the organization will also be addressed. Furthermore, the professional organizations he is a part of as well as how effective or ineffective he is as a leader in various roles will be examined. Introduction Avicenna Ambulatory Surgical Center is located in the Bronx, NY. This facility offers a variety of outpatient services to its community. This multidisciplinary practice serves the lower socioeconomic and accepts the majority of medical insurances, No fault, and Workers Compensation cases. The surgical center is located in the lower level of the 4-floor facility, as the multidisciplinary clinics are located on the other floors. The entire building offers patients the convenience of managing their many health comorbidities by having access to the specialties all in the same building. Brian V. (B.V.), is the leader/manager of the surgical center. Nurse Manager B.V. (for privacy purposes), is the Director of Nursing at Avicenna Ambulatory Surgical Center located in the Bronx, NY. He has managed this practice for slightly over 5 years and currently holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. He is currently in a graduate program at Johns Hopkins University studying business management. Responsibilities include staffing, employing RN’s, surgical technicians, Patient care technicians (PCT), and all other personnel needed to aid in the operation of the facility. He is also responsible for training, ensuring materials are ordered for the different procedures and surgeries conducted at the facility. B.V. is the point person should any issues arise, or any additional support is needed by the surgeons and physicians conducting their procedures. B.V. ensures the perioperative process runs as smooth as possible

He is a member of the American Nurses Association (ANA), and certified in Surgical services manager (CSSM) by the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN).
