Laws Affecting the Agency The United States Small Business Association recommends that when employment opportunities come across and businesses need to hire employees and build teams around which to grow, only within compliance of the number of laws is paramount. Among these laws are the Equal Employment Opportunity has a reputation for being America’s first law enacted by the federal government to ensure protection for American workers as far as employment discrimination is concerned. The organization guarantees that people are not discriminated against based on their color, religion, race, national origin, or even their sex. The Equal Employment Opportunity Organization (EEOC) came into effect in 1964 as public law. It is common knowledge that places of work and companies across the country were rife with instances of discrimination especially for black people and other minorities prior to the enactment of the EEOC. Thus, this is one of the most important laws that changed how businesses hire personnel; limiting eligibility for employment to important aspects and factors about an individual’s candidature like experience, and academic qualification requirements needed for the said position. (SBA, 2018) Affirmative Action is the law or policy that promotes equity in employment to favor disadvantaged groups in the community and country who have previously suffered in employment areas. Additionally, affirmative action ensures diversity is promoted at the workplace, bridging inequality as far as salaries are concerned all aimed at correcting harms, wrongs, and hindrances from the past. The US small business association members have to abide by this law too ensuring that both men and women have salaries that are not different from each other based on gender.
