Patel 1Biren PatelCarl RoachENGL 112 0137 November 2019Is the net neutrality necessary?Thesis: The pros and cons of net neutrality often start a passionate debate that the government must be regulated.Support argues:1.Something went wrong then someone can hold onto accountabilityIf the government must regulate the internet someone will be held responsibility in case something was to go wrong. The service providers will have answer questions from lawmakers, show proof that consumers are treated fairly and not over billed for mistakes of broadband service providers. “Neutrality has been a core democratizing principle of the Internet since the day it was born. Internet service should be like phone service: the phone company cannot make the connection worse if they do not approve of the person you're calling” (Pogue). Service providers sometimes do not like some sites running through their network as it slows their services and exposes their business to all parts of the web which is used by some individuals to do business. “It is economically beneficial for the dominant content provider to reverse its stance on net neutrality” (Hong). At least consumers will have someone to report service providers to and not just meaning there can never be above the law and are accountable to someone.
Patel 22.The spread of false information can be controlled According to Pai, “the Inspector General's report debunks the conspiracy theory that Pai himself was to blame for the FCC spreading false information” (Fleishman). It is no newsthat likes or shares on Facebook has become popular by its users without even having the ability to verify where the information came from, who posted it or how authentic it is. With bloggers many money through clicks as readers assuming the news is real it is easy to spread false new over the internet.
