The transition of nutrition has changed drastically over the years and it’s not just because of one major thing, it’s because of a multitude of things. Not only has nutritional value in food and the food industry itself changed, but our actual nutrition as humans have changed. Popkin (2015) does an excellent job of describing the changes and transition of nutrition as well as the factors related to the nutrition transition. Just to name a few, according to Popkin (2015) some of the major causes of transition in nutrition are due to agricultural transitions, socioeconomical status, as well as technology and access to food retailers and fast food services. Agricultural transitions refer to food supply and how they “affect global dietary patterns” (p. 2). For example, after WWII the primary nutritional focus was address global hunger and supply “basic starchy foods” that were easily accessibly and filling for the appetite (p.2). Popkin (2015) believes the agricultural system has changed in terms of who controls it, with a primary
