Bruk Tewelde SOC-1300 10:00-11:30 1. What hierarchies and roles are present? I believe that the grasshoppers represent the oppressive bourgeois and the ants represent the proletariat. This is because the grasshoppers control the means of production by forcing the ants to gather food for them, leaving barely any for the ants to have for themselves. 2. What are the norms, rules, and laws (government) on "ant Island" (the society of ants and grasshoppers)? The rules were that the ants were to follow the command and work given to them by the higher ruling grasshoppers. The ants were to farm and cultivate the foods to be presented to the grasshoppers. 3. Why do the ants experience false consciousness? Power and strength that the grasshoppers have over the individual ants make the ants feel as if they are subordinate and lower than those grasshoppers. They don’t realize together they are stronger than the grasshoppers.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
