Unit 8: Final ExamHR 310October 11, 2019
Chapter 5, Case Study 5.31.What’s the problem at WCBA?According to the case, the students “most of them lack a full understanding of the legal responsibilities of being on the air” (Northouse, 2012). WCBA student DJs feel too confident andcontinue to violate the FCC regulation. One problem is that the rules and regulations are not properly communicated to the student. Although Ann provided the students with a handout on policies and procedures, new students may not notice the seriousness of this rule and lack of attention. Another problem is that these rules are not being properly enforced. Ann would like to have relational climate at the station and everyone like her because she lets them do whatever they want. Ann must incorporate proper punishment or controls to let them know that they need to obey the law. 2.Using SLII as a basis, what would you advise Ann to do differently at the station?Ann currently displays a highly supportive – low directive style of leadership. She should focus more on goal achievement than relationship building. I believe that she can shift into a coaching role (high supportive-high directive) to mentor these new students through the full experience, including legal ramifications, of being on air. Chapter 10, Case Study 10.1 1.What servant leader behaviors would you say Mrs. Noble demonstrates?
