CONTEMPORARY POLICIES AND PRACTICES 2 Corrections Introduction Federal as well as state associated criminal justice kind of systems usually utilize the term ‘corrections’ to refer to a variety of network regarding various agencies which undertakes the supervision of people in an identified state regarding incarceration along with rehabilitation and also probation (Aroney & Kincaid, 2017). Corrections agency is considered to be a broad concept since it is held responsible for taking care of a huge array of various programs. The correctional system is also responsible for undertaking the monitoring of inmates and also recognizing the exact time when to handle offenders. The role associated with correctional officers is considered to be very diverse (Great Britain & Stationery Office (Great Britain), 2014). The expanded roles along with responsibilities associated with the correctional agencies entail reformation as well as rehabilitation of the sentenced offenders and organizing various educational opportunities and leading to counseling sessions in the society. Provide a brief summary of the case. The case regarding the Corrections department entails the case of Mr. Lyon and his defendant who is his employer at the State Run associated animal House Zoo. In this case, the plaintiff who is referred to as Lyon is involved in suing the identified defendant who in this case is the employer. Mr. Lyon is considered to be a white while Mr. Behr is identified as a black. His score was considered to be higher than that of Mr. Behr in the qualification exam that was for the promotion of employees. Mr. Lyon was not promoted since the identified Zoo was very worried that undertaking the promotion of a white person over a black employee would make it vulnerable to a variety of allegations regarding the prominent Civil Rights Act.
