1 PLEG110 – Contract Law Portfolio Project Directions and Rubric This Assessment is worth 30% of your overall grade Course Outcomes Completing this Assessment will help you to: Classify and demonstrate understanding of the sources of contract law, including common law and the Uniform Commercial Code. Demonstrate knowledge and application of the contract formation process using client scenarios. Evaluate a client scenario and prepare a contract which would be legally enforceable and meets the client’s requirements. Research and evaluate case law involving the formation, interpretation, dissolution, and breach of contracts. Demonstrate knowledge and application of eContracts and their use in the marketplace. Program Outcomes Completing this Assessment will help you: Distinguish appropriate legal terminology and utilize terms correctly in legal documents. Institutional Outcomes Information Literacy and Communication - Utilize appropriate current technology and resources to locate and evaluate information needed to accomplish a goal, and then communicate findings in visual, written and/or oral formats. Relational Learning - Transfer knowledge, skills and behaviors acquired through formal and informal learning and life experiences to new situations. Thinking Abilities - Employ strategies for reflection on learning and practice in order to adjust learning processes for continual improvement. Quantitative and Scientific Reasoning - Follow established methods of inquiry and mathematical reasoning to form conclusions and make decisions. Community and Career - Participate in social, learning, and professional communities for personal and career growth. Deadlines Deliverable items for the Portfolio Project will be required at different points during the course. The timeline is as follows: Assessment Due Date Assignment for Submission Grading Scale Week 3 by Saturday at 11:59 pm, ET. Submit Portfolio Project Part 1: Intra-Office Memo to the Supervising Attorney. Submission will be worth 25% of your overall Portfolio Project grade. Week 5 by Saturday at 11:59 pm, ET. Submit Portfolio Project Part 2: Client Letter to Ms. Hernandez. Submission will be worth 25% of your overall Portfolio Project grade. Week 6 by Saturday at 11:59 pm, ET. Submit Portfolio Project Part 3: Contract between Ms. Hernandez and Ms. Washington. Submission will be worth 40% of your overall Portfolio Project grade. Week 7.5 by Monday at 11:59 pm, ET. Portfolio Project Part 4: Portfolio Project Reflection. Upload your Portfolio Project to your ePortfolio. These two submissions combined will be worth 10% of your overall Portfolio Project grade.
