My proposed business, “Purdy Good Security” will be a non-profit organization that focuses on the cybersecurity industry. The industry continues to grow rapidly, due in major part to the expansion of the Internet of Things (IoT) and Moore’s Law. Therefore, there are both a greater number of devices with Internet access and stronger processors. My business will be perfectly positioned to train the next generation of users. This will be done in two parts - teaching about cybersecurity and bridging the Digital Divide. Firstly, I will look to educate families and smaller businesses about the finer points of cybersecurity. Relevant entry points will be password strength, physical versus network security, and an overview of terminology. The second action plan is the collection, refurbishment, and distribution of computers to impoverished families. By exposing more people to the technology they will be living with, they will become more familiar and comfortable operating it. The driving force here will be my ability to engage with my clients on a very hands-on level. Due to my business being very small (in fact, I plan to be the sole employee upon opening) I will be able to focus on the individual rather than a large group. Plans for expansion would be dependant on receiving additional funding and/or grants. Volunteers would also be welcome, although they would need to be qualified for the work involved. I would also consider hiring additional permanent employees, given that they are qualified and as passionate as I am. The market for my business is relatively unchallenged, given that I am a non-profit. In fact, by exposing more customers to technology, it could lead to increased sales for companies like HP and Apple. In turn, that could influence them to give me support in the form of money and/or materials. Getting those customers would mean a successful marketing campaign. My focus would mostly be in schools and with social media. Getting the word out directly to my potential clients would be the most efficient way to increase public awareness of my brand. To further encourage interaction, I would offer free classes to students and interested families. These classes would focus on the subjects I introduced earlier.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
