Assessment 1 Written or Oral Questions 1. Describe how you could develop an organisation development plan. (5 marks) A development plan is a process of defining the aims of the business for the near future and the strategies by which these goals will be carried out and resourced during the planning exercise. In order to elaborate on an organisational development plan, we need to consider the following steps: · Identify where the business is: By conducting external and internal audits to get a clear understanding and accurate picture of the marketplace, the competitive environment and the company’s competencies. · Identify what is important: Setting the direction of the business over the long term by defining the mission and vision of what the organisation’s future should or could be. From here, we can determine which will be the priority issues. · Goals and objectives: Defining what the business must achieve to address the priority issues. this means the long-term aims that define the accomplishment of the mission. · People and culture: This is how we are going to get to where we want to go by determining who is accountable, how we will allocate time and money to address the priority issues to achieve the defined objectives. · Strategies: Broad activities required to achieve the defined objectives, control a critical success factor, or overcome a barrier. In other words, what would be the strategic actions to develop through the years. · Action plan (who, when, how): This is the specific steps to be taken, by whom and by when to implement a strategy. Implying to ensure the plan performs as designed. · Marketing and communication: How we are going to communicate and promote what we want to achieve in order to get everyone on board and reach the desired target. · Revenue projection – forecast: Provide the numbers that back up everything of what is described in the organisational and marketing sections. Include balance sheet, personnel plan, budgets, profits, loss statements and cash flow. 2. Explain how you could implement organisation development activities.
