RESEARCH PROPOSAL TITLE: Establishing a Flood Barrier System made from HDPE Plastic to Prevent the Flood from Entering the Residential Properties (1) Research Description ( Concise Explanation of the research citing some Related Literature) Flooding is one of the most severe problems in the Philippines today. Floods are categorized to its natural and artificial causes. The natural causes of flooding includes overflowing of body of water like rivers and lakes. While artificial causes of flooding includes blockage of waterways by informal settlers. According to Castro, J.S., et al (2015) that a storage tank to be built near Manila City Hall will significantly reduce the flooding in the area but during extreme storm the design of the tank cannot totally remove the flooding in the area during such event. As our world keeps on advancing, there are two different strategies to protect existing buildings in flood prone areas: wet proofing and dry proofing. This study is focused only on dry proofing strategies which includes shielding, consisting in the use of flood barriers, which can be installed at the entrance of the buildings or at a definite distance from them, including the placing along the banks or crossing the street (Rappazzo, D., and Aronica, G.T., 2016). Most of the flood
