Evaluating and Selecting Assessments Evaluating and Selecting Assessments With the growing amount of English Language Learners in the United States, teachers are having to create strategies that meet the needs of every student in the classroom. (Smith, Teemant, Pinnegar, 2004) Assessments are a good way for the teacher to evaluate and review how much the students are learning on the lessons being taught. As I reviewed the Sociocultural Assessment List, the two checklist items that I noticed the most are feedback and participation. Feedback is an important part of the learning process for English Language Learners. When done correctly it can be the motivator that the student needs in wanting to learn. (Sierra, R. 2017) This type of an assessment keeps the student informed on how they are doing in class and if they may need extra help with something. Feedback is a useful tool for the student’s parents.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
