Srisouvanh 1 Emily Srisouvanh Professor Ghaffarian Eng 200 26 March 2019 The Older Generation Vs. Younger Generations There has been various amount of changes throughout centuries overtime within society in the United States. Earlier generations and the younger people differ from one another. There seems to be a battle between the two since the older generations are critiquing the younger ones because of the advanced technology occuring in the modern society. According to “ The Tethered Generation ”, Kathryn Tyler informs her readers that the younger citizens are abusing the use of technology, which results to a negative effect for the future. Besides Tyler’s judgement on the millenials, yet there are many other various viewpoints on the issue. However, Erin Burns’ article Mentoring: Why I’m Calling Out “Bullpucky!” on Generational Differences and Professional Development ”, educates her audience about the variety of assumptions the older generations create on millennials due to modern technology being unethical. Examining both articles on technology interfering with the younger generations on parenting and workforce has displayed a larger perspective on how ethical/unethical it may be based upon the two different writing pieces of their credibility. Many older generations have their own beliefs towards the younger people. Tyler argues about the younger citizens being considered dependent due to the newer improvements on technology. She claims younger generations are utilizing their cellular devices for almost everything. “Cell phones and computers have changed their brain development” (Tyler 478). Referring back to that statement, she is insinuating that teenagers are no longer utilizing their
