The Effects of Interference and Levels of Processing on Memory Lab 2 Everyone remembers their first day of grade school and how hectic it may have seemed at the age of five. Say you take a trip down memory lane and remember the morning of, when your mother is urging you to remember her work phone number whilst your father is making you load all your school supplies in your bookbag. At a young age, this takes a heavy toll on the working memory. Working memory is a set of interacting information-processing components that actively stores and manages information required to carry out complex cognitive tasks such as learning, decision making, reasoning, and comprehension (Cooker). Given if you managed to remember your mothers work number, where exactly did it go? In order for you to remember the phone number, it must enter the long-term memory. Working memory limits the amount of information that can be held and how long one can retain it before having to process it again. In this lab two experiments will be conducted, where one will explore the properties of working memory and the second will explore how different properties influence the accuracy of the memory. Method Participants This lab combined two class sections, totaling to 112 participants for both experiments. Procedure Short-Term Experiment In Lab, two experiments took place to obtain data from the 112 participant and how their memory works. The first experiment that took place was the Short Term Memory experiment. In the STM experiment, five tasks took place. For each task, the conductor of this lab experiment

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
