I feel like what may have marked changes in tone, style, and theme that I see from the earlier readings would definitely be in the language used, language presentation or the make up of the type of language used, as well as the rawness and passion that seems to be in about all of the readings so far. Something that marks the difference between that time period and today that can be seen and felt throughout the readings is also the strong existence of not only racism, but discrimination. Discrimination still exists in today's world but there are repercussions and sanctions against it that didn't exist in the world at that time. "Liberator friends introduced me to a few of those Greenwich Village tearooms and gin mills which were not crazy with colorphobia." (McKay & Jarrett, 2007, p 104). In today's society or at least in the areas I have grown up around, a "colorphobic" neighborhood or area would be ridiculed as well as boycotted. It is not the majority to be discriminatory nor racist by most people and back then it seemed to be part or what was accepted in day to day life. "That you yourselves have not the sense to
