F.A.T. City Video Analysis 2 How Richard D. Lavoie defines and explains fairness. According to Richard D. Lavoie, fairness means that everyone gets what he or she needs. In the video, he talked about how we have this understanding of what fairness is supposed to be and most people live thinking that “fairness” is to get the same things. In education, the reality is that the attention, modifications, and accommodations that we provide to our students is really based on the needs of each child. As educators, we have to take a step back and analyze the whole concept of “fairness” especially in our classrooms simply because our students’ needs are different so what they will get will also be different.
