I help them become career ready by providing them the knowledge and skills deemed to be essential for success in the modern workforce; I accomplish this task in a number of ways. For starters, in addition to helping students create resumes and cover letters in which they are displaying their most essential skills and experiences, I also provide them with resource guides they can use as educational tools that will give them tips on how to market themselves in their resumes and cover letters. My philosophy is, marketing yourself is about telling a story. Who are you? What are you about? What is your purpose and mission? A cover letter and a resume are glimpses of what an individual can offer from a professional standpoint. Why personal branding is imperative for career success comes down to what your values, passions, and long-term goals are, but regardless of what career path someone chooses to follow or how they market themselves, one thing I would tell students from all educational backgrounds is that personal branding and career success build off each other. Creating a strong brand establishes yourself as a natural leader and a self-advocate, and the better one becomes at branding themselves, the higher their self-efficacy will become and the more confident they will be in setting attainable goals and creating standards for personal growth. “What makes you unique?” is the most important question in personal branding....
