Consumer Monitor Calibration – Mac ‘Display Preferences’ Using the laboratory Macs, you will be creating 3 different calibration profiles for your desktop monitor. Follow the instructions here and record your observations as requested. 1. Expert calibration – 1.8 aim gamma Open the System Preferences window (accessed from the Apple menu) and select Displays. Toggle the Color tab and click Calibrate while holding down the Option key on your keyboard. Be sure the Expert Mode checkbox is on and proceed with the on-screen instructions. Be sure you are viewing the monitor directly on axis (straight ahead) as you work. When you get to the dialog requesting you choose a target gamma, select 1.8. For white point, select Native (but also try out the slider to see the impact on the monitor’s color balance, like select 1.0 aim gamma). Save your profile when you are finished. 2. Expert calibration – 2.2 aim gamma Repeat the exercise in step 2, but this time select 2.2 (Standard) for target gamma when you are prompted. Again, save your profile with a new name when you are finished. 3. Expert calibration – 2.2 aim gamma / 9300K white point Proceed exactly as outlined in step 3, however, now set the white point to 9300K by unselecting the use “Use native white point” checkbox (this is the setting typically used with older Mac displays). Save your profile.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
