Aubrey Cole SOFA 122.01 11/07/2019 Modules Seven through Nine Homework Question 1 (10 pts) 1. We use several terms to describe the quality of fine detail in an image. Define the following terms, being careful to emphasize the differences amongst them. You will have to research in order to find the full answer. (You may include images to help you describe each term) Sharpness Acutance Resolving Power Resolution Sharpness in a digital image is the clarity of detail within an image. The sharper the image the more details and textures are visible in the image. Typically sharpness is defined by two elements, acutance and resolution. Acutance is based on the amount of details at the edges and borders of objects within the image and the image itself. Acutance is also defined as the level of contrast between the objects within the image, or how blurry the edges of the borders of the objects within the images is. Resolution is defined as the number of pixels in an image. The greater the amount of pixels, the clearer and more detailed the image will appear and vice versa.
