Name: Daniel Washington PSYC 2220 — Assignment 3 BARS INSTRUCTIONS: Your job is to create two BARS for the job “University Professor” using two behavioral dimensions of this job. As an example, one dimension might be the extent to which professors treat students with respect (Don’t use this as one of your two dimensions.). For each dimension, you will need to describe at least 3 critical incidents: 1 instance of really good performance, 1 instance of average/mediocre performance, and 1 instance of really bad performance. Make sure you describe the critical instances in detail, without using the name of the professor(s). (8 pts.: 4 pts. for appropriateness of incidents, 4 pts. for clarity and specificity of description) Then, you will need to rate the critical incidents, reformat them and place them on an anchored scale as shown in your notes. (1 pt. for ratings, 1 pt. for reformatting and placing on scale). Behavioral dimension #1: Public Speaking and Class Engagement Critical incidents: 1. The professor speaks in a clear and concise manner, which makes understanding the subject material easier. One instance where he did speak in a clear and concise manner was when he explained what adverse impact and disparate treatment meant and then provided examples of instances where adverse impact or disparate treatment may occur. In addition, when he talked about gender differences in hiring practices, he explained that for certain jobs, such as jobs that are physically demanding, there may be a greater portion of men than women not because women are being discriminated against, but because that job may require one to have certain physical abilities.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
