Crohn’s disease - Affects anywhere in the GI tract; mouth to anus. - Affects the whole thickness of the intestinal wall Ulcerative Colitis - Only affects the large intestine - Only affects upper layers of the intestinal wall 2. What are some of the signs of appendicitis? Signs of appendicitis include abdominal pain that originates in the umbilical region radiating to the RLQ. Rebound tenderness in the RLQ is apparent, positive psoas sign, Rovsing’s sign, and obturator sign are also indicative of appendicitis. 3. What role may diet play in diverticular disease? Diet is the most significant risk factor for diverticular formation. Specifically, lack of dietary fiber and obesity.
