TRUTH IN MEDIA 2 Abstract The following paper will observe different social media articles and their views of sex. The articles used will touch the topics of intimacy, marriage, sexual addiction, and homosexuality. After a brief view to what society says it’s a norm or acceptable about his topics, there will be a biblical response to each topic. A biblical viewpoint is important when encountering such topics through the career of a counselor, especially a Christian counselor. It is crucial that a counselor practice his/her role as a guide, coach and supportive mentor to a client by teaching and showing them the love, grace and forgiveness of Christ when it comes to such a controversial topic as sex.

TRUTH IN MEDIA 3 Sex and Social Media Hook ups and marriage Sex has become the most controversial and the hottest topic in social media. Many young adults, especially college students are taking their virginity for granted given the information they are given about sex and their sexuality through magazines or social media like Facebook, twitter, or Instagram. Intimacy is no longer viewed as a need between two individual who participate in sexual activities, young people resort to “hook ups.” Hooking up is a term that is used to imply “anything form making out to oral sex or intercourse” without any strings attached (Taylor, 2013). Many college students are getting involved in multiple one night stands, having different partners without the need to become emotionally involved, it is just sex. For the females involved in this act of hooking up there is a lot of drinking involved, many of the girls interviewed in Kate Taylor’s (2013) article feel the need to get “buzzed” in order to have sex with a random guy they may have just met at a fraternity or sorority party. However, this high involvement of alcohol can be very harmful for this women as they encounter the risk of being raped not just by the guy they were talking to but by his friends as well (Taylor, 2013). The reason many college students are resorting to hook ups is because they do not feel the need to be emotionally involved with anyone, their priority are their degree which it will provide them a career. Their reasoning stands beyond the fact that they are “only young once” and that they will have time to settle down and have a meaningful relationship which it would lead to building a family, later in life (Taylor, 2013). There is still hope though as a small 20% of

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
