Executive Summary Climate change is a real threat to this planet. It will lead to the rise of sea levels, wiping out many coastal lands taking the Manhattan Island along with it. Temperatures will rise drastically and air quality will be insufficient. To combat this, NYC has pledged to the 80x50 plan, reducing 80% carbon emissions by 2050 . De Blasion had planned to do this by “ removing 1 10 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent from our air by 2020 and 500,000 pounds of fine particulate matter by 2030.” 2 II. Context and Scope of the Problem One potential way that NYC can achieve 80 by 50 is tackling the transportation sector. Consumes over 50,000 units of energy and produces 17,000 tons of CO2. This is due to the fact 3 that New York City is home to 1.4 millions vehicles, accounting for 28% of Greenhouse Gas emissions. So perhaps finding alternative fuels or means of transport will be benefical to
