As a young kid, I was naturally drawn to sports. I played pretty much any sport you could think of: soccer, swimming, basketball, softball, gymnastics, and water polo to name just a few. However, being born in Florida, I had developed a love for the water. I could swim before I could even walk, which is a tremendous accomplishment for such a young age. I continued to swim on my neighborhood swim team when I moved to Georgia. Since I was four years old at the time, I was supposed to join the ripples group for developing swimmers; however, I could swim at the level of a six-year-old. Therefore, I moved up two age groups and swam with kids at least two years older than me. I continued to swim along with playing several other sports throughout my childhood. After playing many sports at once, I had to decide which sports I wanted to play at a higher level. Because of my prior swim experience and love for soccer, I decided to only play those sports. I enjoyed soccer because I loved being part of a team and the aggressiveness you must have to play the sport. Swimming is a completely different story because I just liked being in the water and enjoyed learning the different strokes and techniques that go with swimming. After a few years of playing both sports, I was selected to play on the highest-level team for soccer and was moved up to a more competitive age group for swimming. For swimming, I have competed at Auburn, University of South Carolina, University of Tennessee, University of Georgia, Emory, Georgia Tech, and University of Florida. This helped me to become more motivated to do well in swimming. In addition to going to these travel swim meets, I was selected to travel for soccer too. We played tournaments in Georgia, South Carolina, Florida, and Alabama, causing my passion for soccer to grow even more. Eventually, I came to a point where I had to choose between soccer and swimming. My coaches for both soccer and swimming were pressuring me to choose one over the other due to

the large time commitment. I really liked both sports and did not want to hurt the coach’s
