Makenna Bettencourt SOE 100 8/31/2019 In class, we focused on the surrounding environment while relating the different systems we observed relate to other fields. First, I observed my surrounding like the amount of wind rustling through the trees. The number of acorns that were lying on the ground and the number of trees in the field alone. These observations were made while I sat there and reflected. I also thought a lot about the processes that were happening around me, like photosynthesis and the CO2 people put out and the O2 they take in as they walked past and just in life. Our field that relates to the major was chemistry. Chemistry relates to environmental science in the way that it focuses on the amount of carbon in the atmosphere and the interactions between the different elements in the soil which provide the nutrients for plant growth. Chemistry is very important in looking into environmental changes, but so is math and other sciences like biology. Including information from other sciences or fields will help widen our outlook in my field of Wildlife Ecology and Environmental Science. Understanding the biology of the animals within the ecosystem and being able to calculate how much O2 the surrounding trees are putting out is important to understanding how that system works as whole. In my line of study you need to look at the bigger picture so that you understand how your actions will affect the future. With that, you can have an increase in solutions or solutions that will genuinely help due to looking at multiple factors....
