2 “The Lady or the Tiger” "The Lady or the Tiger" is a short story about an event that happened in an unnamed kingdom whereby the king comes up with a unique law enforcement policy. Instead of subjecting those accused with criminal offenses to the set trials, he comes up with a gladiator-style arena. The offender faces it in front of all citizens of the kingdom. Two doors are closed, in which they have to choose one. Behind one door lays a beautiful lady selected by the kingdom, and behind the other door is a man-eating tiger. If one chooses the lady, he is considered with no offense and then has to marry the lady on the spot. Then, being with the tiger is your own choice. In the story, king’s daughter falls in love with a young man who also belonged to the kingdom but of a low class. The man is termed as not suitable for the lady for loving her is an offense to the king. The king orders the young man to face the usual treatment. He even orders the fierce
