1 Mikayla Espinoza k UNV 100 September 21st, 2019 Dr. Santos Working Teens looking for a summer job in the food industry should consider all aspects of the food industry because it can be harder than it seems. The food industry often hides from you just exactly how much you will actually be doing. When I was a dishwasher at a restaurant I learned this lesson the hard way. When I was hired at this restaurant I was originally hired to be a hostess. At the last minute they switched me to a dishwasher and I was very shocked and confused. This was extremely frustrating to me because there is such a huge difference between being a hostess and working in the front and being a dishwasher and working in the back. Being

Unformatted text preview: a dishwasher has more responsibilities than just washing the dishes. I had to mop, clean bathrooms, prepare food, and sometimes I had to help make food with the cooks. My manager had completely blindsided me with the position I had applied for. When I asked some of the other workers about this they all said that the job switching was a common thing. The outcome from the job switching issue caused many issues and ended with me quitting. In the end it is important to make sure that if you are choosing to go into the food industry to research what exactly you are getting into to avoid a possible issue with your employer....
