PRIMARY & SECONDARY SKIN LESIONS Primary skin lesions arise from normal skin as a result of changes in the epidermis, dermis, or subcutaneous tissue. Secondary skin lesions result from changes in the primary skin lesion and develop during the natural history of the skin disease or as a result of scratching. 4
