Jose Llanes Professor Glaze ART 1010-01 22 April 2018 “San Francisco, Mexico, and the Teotihuacan Murals” Essay: Kathleen Berrin In, “San Francisco, Mexico, and the Teotihuacan Murals,” an article by Kathleen Berrin, she explores the history of Harold Wagner and his collection of Teotihuacan murals; as well as, how the joint collaboration of international parties created the medium for good relations between the U.S and Mexico. First and foremost, Berrin begins her article by addressing how the de Young Museum acquired the Wagner murals and the museum’s involvement with the Mexican government. Berrin then discusses the efforts made to reconstruct and conserve the murals and concludes her article by addressing the growth of the de Young Museum in regards to their future efforts to collaborate and conserve artifacts from other cultures. Considering this, Berrin’s main argument throughout her article is who should have the legal rights to own the Teotihuacan murals.
