LEADERSHIP SKILLS 2 Leadership Skills In management, leadership styles can be defined as the characteristics that a leader poses in directing, guiding, motivating, and managing groups of people. Great leaders are meant to inspire social change and political movements. They work hard in motivating others to create, perform, and innovate. Having interviewed various leaders, I come to realize they possessed various styles and skills within their leadership regime. Most interested is how they overcome challenges as leaders face intimidation from people and even their friends. In realization, some of the leader’s possessed autocratic leadership styles while others the democratic leadership styles. I also come to realize others had transformational leadership while others the transactional leadership. Comparing and Contrasting Leadership Styles. The leaders with autocratic leadership styles sets objectives, allocates, and insist obedience from workers. These leaders make choices and decisions based on their ideas and rarely accept advice from their followers. The leaders have full authorization of control over large groups of people. In making decisions, the leaders accept workers to make decisions, take their input, but they have the final say on the decision made. Most importantly, they make decisions quickly, especially in stress periods, to maintain the organization's goal. This style appeared to be effective in small groups. Also, it could be applied in cases that involved a great deal of pressure, such as solving conflicts. With this
