Same But Different By Joshua Gomez Conformity. What more universal, political issue is there in our modern day? Our governing bodies-be that society or the government itself-instill what we must believe is good and what is evil to those unable to think for themselves, in ways those who have their own mind may never know. The 3 proceeding images depict an exaggerated instance of conformity, and its pitfalls. It’s stranglehold on our social roles and our helpless mindsets. From education, to occupation, to capital punishment. Proving that we are meant to feel as if we are all the same. And we are the same. We are the same but different The first illustration shows a man, presumably coming from school or an educational event because he is given detention as his consequence. The artists wanted to deliver the irony of school dress code violations and their inherent prejudice. The second picture shows a group of 3 teenagers all wearing the same clothes and accessories. They are speaking about the idiocy of a conformist society. This ironic
