Firewall OpenVAS Report Vulnerability One Identification: [ (CVSS: 10.0) PHP End Of Life Detection .] Description: [ An end of life version of PHP is not receiving any security updates from the vendor. Unfixed security vulnerabilities might be leveraged by an attacker to compromise the security of this host.] Mitigation: [ Update the PHP version on the remote host to a still supported version. ] End of life loosely means the software is reaching the point to lose its usefulness, from the point of view from the vendor of course. Even though it still serves its purpose, the vendor says buy our new stuff. What happens when a product reaches end of life? The vendor stops giving support for the product. Many companies practice end of life from Verizon to Microsoft. There are only two solutions, both of which are forced upon the client. Either continue on without technical support or purchase the upgrade/s to receive technical support. Majority of bigger companies (over 200 employees) use software that has passed the EOL. This leaves these companies wide open to vulnerabilities. If these companies are using the older browser versions, their data is released across the net. The most popular company that was exploited by EOL was Sony. The attackers had little to no problem entering the systems because they were outdated and not hardened. By allowing software to go past its EOL, there are no updates, hot fixes, or new versions for a client to protect themselves with.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
