2 Running head: SYNTHESIS PAPER Leadership In a group of scholars, discussing the term leadership may produce various definitions of what the actual term encompasses. Leadership is composed of many unique theories that assist an individual/scholar in understanding what leadership style he or she possesses. Leadership requires tools such as collective effort, conceptual knowledge, practical skills, etc., which can lead to external parties seeing leadership as an intimidating endeavor (Berger, 2014). The aforementioned collaborate to help the person develop his or her identity as a leader. Each facet in the identity spectrum of leadership, provides foundational support for a person(s) to describe themselves as a leader and their leadership style. As a leader begins to expound on each facet, he or she must also develop a clear and concise approach of being a leader. According to Cavazottea, Hickman, Morneo (2012) these attributes can affect the effectiveness of a leader on the transformational leadership style. A transformational leader is equipped with the ability to change with the social status of an organization. Additionally, followers are attracted to leaders who possess the trait of charisma. The trait of charisma can be taught to leaders (Antonakis, Fenley, Liechti, 2011). A key to becoming a successful leader is to have competent followers. As a leader acquires a leadership role, the accompanying followers must gain knowledge of the different styles. If a leader puts all of their energy into one particular style, the morale of the the staff can be affected in negative and positive ways. Eboka (2016) recently stated that leadership are the various patterns of behaviors leaders adopt in the process of directing the efforts of subordinates towards the achievement of organizational goals. Researching and analyzing the articles, the reader(s) will retain information that assists them in developing a conclusion that leadership is a learned skill/technique and is developed through processes that incorporate transformation, empowerment, and learning each unique style of leadership. Transformation Upon examination of the studies, it was evident that the focus was on the various styles of leadership an individual would develop during his or her profession. This section will focus on how transformation is discussed in each study and how it maintains its relevance in leadership. In order to understand their leadership capability and their leadership style, each study featured the individuals participating in a process that determined their level of determination. Transforming into a great leader requires the individual to understand his or her approach. Berger (2014) describes various methods that lead a person in how he or she will modify their leadership style into a grand style that increases productivity in their profession. Achievement Oriental
