Chapter 7 Questions 1. How is movie acting today different from movie acting from the 1930s through the 1960s? Back when movies became a thing there were no such thing as actors. They were just ordinary people, that played themselves. There were not professionals, so they had to learn to just ignore the camera. Actors still must do that today, but that is their job, it is what they are good at. But then came Hollywood it started in the 1930’s and went to the 50’s, that’s when it became a thing to do acting and be a movie star. During this time studios started giving lessons on acting. They taught people how to speak and how to move in order to be a good actress/actor. Studios pretty much controlled their actors during this time. Now today actors struggle to get parts, there are so many actors. The acting field has become a lot more competitive. Back then peoples acting skills weren’t the best, so people usually got casted because of their looks not because of their talents. That is still the case today, but it doesn’t happen as often. Most people get casted because they are perfect for the part. They look the part and act the part. They have the talent to fulfill the part. Acting is so much more then looks it takes skill. And as the years have gone on the acting skill has increased and become harder to be a A list actress/actor. 2. Why is the relationship between the actor and the camera so important in making and looking at movies? How does the use of subjective POV in KLEINGELD help the performances of the actors?
