Anastasia Barnes Intro to Religion Site Visit Report Name of Site Visited: St Agatha Catholic Church Address: 1111 SW 107th Ave Miami FL 33174 Contact: (305)222- 1500 Hours: Sat Vigil- 5:30pm Sun- 7:30am, 11am, 8pm Weekdays- 8:30am I took it upon myself to do my site visit at the parish of St Agatha; a Catholic congregation under the leadership of Pastor Rev. Father Marcos Somarriba. Assisting him in services are the Priest name Paster Rev. Father Lucien Pierre, Rev. Father Raul Soutuyo, Rev. Father Rafael Cos. The deacon of the congregation is Rev. Mr. Eernesto Del Riego and Rev. Mr. Manuel Perez. This parish is fulfilling the needs of the Christian faith. Catholicism is the largest branch of christianity. According to James C. Livingston “The christian view of human nature and the human predicament is rooted in the biblical portrayal of man and woman…. To be human, according to Christianity, is to be in a sense both angel and devil”. (Livingston 217). This is also known as the religion derived from Jesus Christ. St Agathas mission is said to “…convinced of their baptismal promises and the action of the Holy Spirit in their lives, would give themselves to the proclamation of the Good News and the spreading of the Kingdom of God.” Some art, symbols, images, cultic objects that I was able to look at and notice were the crucifix, a lot of crosses, Virgin Mary, and rosaries. The crucifix is a cross with a figure of the body of Jesus Christ attached to it. It is often placed on or above the altar where the Eucharist is celebrated. Eucharist is the ceremony celebrating the Last Supper, where bread and wine are consumed. The crucifix is a symbol of
