Communication Skill Are Essential for Art ManagersThe definition of communication skills is allow us to understand and beunderstood by other. Communication skills are abilities that we use when giving andreceiving different kinds of information. Some examples include communicatingideas, feelings or what happening arround us. Communication skill involve listening,speaking, observing and empathizing. It is also helpful to understand the differencesin how to communicate through face to face interactions, phone conversations anddigital communication.Poor workplace communication is damaging to relationships and overallproductivity. Strong communication provides accurate information in a way therecipient can understand and make us of. Often, weak communication is the result of afailure to consider the message and its medium. Without workplace communication,staff wouldn’t know what they want to do and customer wouldn’t know when toexpect their orders. Communication plays a role in nearly every aspect of running anorganization and when it is done well, it greases the wheels of operations and keepsmorale high. When poorly, it creates unnecessary ill will and interferes with dailyroutinesGood communication skills allow managers and leaders to perform their rolesmore effectively. Their role is to communicate different topic to many people. Theymust communicate effectively to the team, to their supplier, to their customers andfinancers. Therefore it is important that leaders and manager are good communicators.Communication skills for manager and leaders are different from communicationskills for the average person in the street.Strong communication takes into account the needs of receiver of thecommunication and of the workplace as a whole. We may need to inform, instruct,negotiate or persuade. Sometimes we will direct our message to one person, whileother times our audience is a group of people. Take time to consider the effect of ourcommunication on recipient. Art manager need to give unwelcome messages at timesand should develop communicative rapport with the recipient to reduce destructiveanger. Words that are too long or complex for receiver to understand, inappropriatefacial expressions, poor body language, bad grammar or sloppy spelling can weakenyour communication message.
To lead other, we must demonstrate effective communication skills. Otherwise, aart manager will lack the credibility to implement to our employer’s objectives andstruggle to rally workers team behind us. Art managers who communicate well arealso more likely to become good problem solvers, which is an essential skill tofunction well in other place workplace that have better environment.
