SOCIAL CONTROL AND SHAMING 2 Social Control and Shaming Briefly, deviance can be described as action or behaviors which violate social norms (Downes, Rock & McLaughlin, 2016). They are inclusive of a formally enacted behavior such as crime and informational violation of social norms aligned at the rejection of folkway and culture. However, social deviance remains a phenomenon that is experienced every day in society and there are two possible ways on how an individual acts in the face of social norms which are conforming or violating (Henslin, 2014). In this way, the explicit social norms are far from laws such as prohibiting the drinking of alcohol in the morning while implicit social norms stand as the foundation of cultural beliefs that a member is supposed to follow. In my case, I have found myself on the losing end of deviance behavior. It happened that in the computer lab there are rules and regulation instilled by the department management. There
