After reading “Communication in the Workplace” I found that I connected with a few examples in the article. The particular example that stuck out to me the most was one of the first ones within the article. The barrier discussed was relating to miscommunication due to difference in perception. Everyone comes in to a situation with a different perspective which can cause for a different interpretation of communication (Wienclaw, 2019). I personally have experienced this within my workplace, but it relates more to the lack there of for conversation. As a new staff I was working with my senior, the person who is teaching me and reviewing my work. For months I would do work and not get much feedback in return. I would get a simple “thank you” when I completed a task. This made me feel like I was underperforming at my job. Finally, a little while later I received a “good job” on one of my work papers.
