Katelyn Cisneros Section 10 Religion has always been a huge part of my life. I can thank my grandparents for my deep immersion into Christianity at age 4 when I was placed into a Sunday school class. One thing I have learned from practicing something from such a young age is, it can cause you to be ignorant of other religions and their practices. I often think my grandparents pushed religion too hard on my parents because they really didn’t stress its importance to me, the opposite of my grandparents. My parents are Christians, but not to the extreme the elders in my family seem to abide by Christian ideals and rituals. Why do the elder generations seem to practice religion more fervently than the rest of us? Is it because they have seen more of the world and are closer to

Unformatted text preview: death? I aim to be a well-rounded and knowledgeable individual. I have opened my closed mind and I am excited to learn about the various religions of the world. What I really look forward to learning about is the religions originating in China or Japan as I haven’t been exposed to them previously. Reincarnation sounds crazy to me but I think this is because of my background. The more I think about it, the more questions I have and the more it interests me. I remove my prior beliefs for this process, to more easily understand why other religions believe what they do. Although, belief is not what I am aiming for, it is the importance of these practices and the reasoning behind them that I find interesting and worth further exploration....
