In addition to a brief description of the policy, you will also indicate the stance (for or against), level of implementation, and provide a link to the actual policy. Do not use Wikipedia, news articles, etc. Go directly to the source for information): - congress/senate-bill/1200 Implementation level (Circle one of the following that fits your policy): Organizational/Institutional Federal Brief summary of the policy in your own words (minimum 100 words): The purpose of the Immigration Reform and Control Act was to create an employment verification system. This system would serve to help the employers from knowingly hiring, recruiting, or referring an illegal alien to work. The system would also serve to potentially stop illegal persons from taking the jobs from American citizens. The act requires an employer to examine the passport, birth certificate, or social security card of the employee. This would be required by the employer and confirmed on a form from the Attorney General. This form is one page and is an INS form I-9. November 9, 1986 is the date that your identity and employment eligibility would have to be verified by your employer before being hired.
