Hope Gratzer EME 2040: Introduction to Technology for Educators January 25 2019 Chapter 7 Digital Activity 3rd World Farmer is an interactive game on the Games For Change website. In the game, you are a farmer in a third world country. This means that you start out with no savings and no education. Each year you use what little money you have to buy crops, livestock, or tools to help you have a successful year. However, being that you’re in a third world country, tragedy strikes every year. Whether it’s disease, theft, or a global drop in prices, each year there’s some conflict. This game requires the highest level of thinking skills of Bloom’s Taxonomy, creating. Students playing this game create their own farm. They must not only understand what the conditions of a third world country are like, but they must apply that understanding and create something new. They must plan according to what they estimate the crop yield will be, and they are producing something. This game is difficult and provokes students to consider what life in third world

You must switch back and forth between the three branches and work together to get important issues addressed, laws passed, and keep citizens happy. The level of thinking required according to Bloom’s Taxonomy application. Students must already remember the three branches of government. Further, they must already be able to classify the three branches and summarize their different duties in order to play the game. While playing the game, they are applying that knowledge by choosing the best decisions for each branch.
