Long 1 Direct Examination of Jamie Hagar (HAY-GER) -Your Honor, the Defense calls Dr. Jamie Hagar Q: Good morning/afternoon, could you please introduce yourself to the jury. A: My name is Jamie Hagar, H-A-G-A-R Q: Are you employed? A: Yes. Q. What is your current occupation? A: I’m currently the assistant principal of Spartan Academy. I am also the school’s Athletic Director (2-3). Q: How long have you been the school’s Assistant Principal? A: I’ve been the Assistant Principal for 24 years. Q: How long have you been the school’s athletic director? A: I’ve held that position for 18 years (11-12). Q: What is your educational background? A: I graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor’s degree in Education. I later received my Master’s in Education from UM as well. Q: Did you continue your education after your Master’s degree? A: Yes. I received my Doctor of Education from UM.

Long 2 Q: Do you know Mr. Swift? A: Yes, he is the track coach at Spartan Academy Q: What has been your experience with Mr. Swift at Spartan Academy? A: I have the utmost respect for Terry. Terry puts in as much time, if not more, than any of our other coaches (122-123). Q: Please describe some of the activities where you have had the opportunity to interact with Mr. Swift. A: Terry runs track practices, off-season workout sessions, chairs the scholarship committee. He even tutors students who are struggling to meet eligibility requirements because of poor grades (123-125). Q: How would you describe his relationship with the students? A: The students love him. In fact, Terry was a Michigan Interscholastic Association (“MIA”) finalist two years ago. Q: How is that award chosen? A: It is an award solely based on student nominations. The students have to write an essay explaining how the coach has made a positive impact on their life, both on and off the field (127-129).
