1 Ali Khalil Intro to Philosophy 10200 The problem of evil argument The existence of evil in this world lead humans to questioned whether God exists or not. Instead of questioning the existence of God, we have to think deeply if we do only good things in life will evil still exist. It’s illogical and incoherent when we link the existence of God based on evil’s existence. Evil things are result of human’s actions, they are the ones who are responsible of wreaking havoc on the earth. Evil exists to show people that good always wins and humans are the ones, who corrupt the good on the earth. Nonetheless the philosopher Mackie claims if God is all omnipotent, all omniscient, and all good, therefore evil should not exist. He further explains that the ultimate good thing always eliminates evil, and there is no limit on what the omnipotent can do; but since there is evil, it follows that God does not exist. It’s inconsequential to claim that God does not exist based upon evil's existence. There are other factors that have to deal with evil existence such as humans free will, laws of nature, and others. Good and evil are complementary. It is reasonable that good cannot exist without evil, but it does not necessarily mean that God is not capable of creating good alone or evil alone. Any good that happens in human’s lives are because of God, but we should not blame God of the evil actions because it is caused by humans. God can create angels only, who can do good; He can also create demons who act evil, but He

2 chooses to create humans with free will. You have the right to decide your life and you can be superior to angels or inferior by refusing to worship God. People are mistaken by looking at the problem from one lens and deciding whether it is evil or good, they are still blind to many facts. For instance, there are a lot of people, who are suffering from diseases and hunger, and there are those, who become victims of natural disasters, If people decide to worship God, they may not be the victims of these catastrophes.
