Hyper-pluralism: A theory of government and politics contending that groups are so strong that the government is weakened by them. Basic understanding of what a democracy is-why America is a republic Democracy is government by the people, either directly or indirectly, with free and frequent elections. America is a republic as our government was founded on enduring values and has shown resilience and adaptability. Our republic is a type of government that derives its powers indirectly from the people, who elect those who will govern.
